Toys delivered to John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital

Assemblyman Ray Walter recently celebrated the conclusion of his seventh annual Christmas in July Toy Drive, delivering hundreds of donated toys to the children at John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital in Buffalo.

Walter’s toy collection efforts have become a yearly tradition in Western New York, bringing off-season holiday cheer to the patients at Oishei Children’s Hospital and highlighting the region’s willingness to come together in support of a worthy cause.

At the event, Walter, volunteers and Santa Claus hand-delivered gifts to patients throughout the hospital. Walter also lauded the generosity of all who participated, including the many community partners who have supported the Christmas in July Toy Drive throughout the years. Walter extended a special thanks to the Western New York Funeral Directors Association for the group’s contribution again this year.

“I’d like to thank our community partners and volunteers, as well as everyone who donated, for their support in making this year’s toy drive our most successful yet,” Walter said. “Seeing the joy on the faces of these brave boys and girls as we deliver your donations makes me so proud to represent such a special community.”

“Once again, the Western NY Funeral Directors Golf Outing is proud to support Assemblyman Ray Walter’s Christmas in July Toy Drive,” Jack Attfield said. “It has been an honor for the last five years to partner with Assemblyman Walter and bring toys to the hospital to brighten the days of the kids who are here.”

Attfield said the partnership has raised and purchased more than $20,000 worth of toys, crafts and games, and seeing all the smiles on delivery day makes it all worth it.

“I would also like to thank Captain Jack and our princesses from Royal Receptions Princess Parties of WNY for joining us and helping to distribute the presents.”

“Receiving a toy can significantly alleviate a child’s anxiety and put them at ease during hospital stays and routine visits,” said Allegra C. Jaros, president of John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital.

Throughout the summer, Walter and his staff collected donations of new, unopened toys at several drop-off locations across the Assembly District, which included Walter’s district office, Pendleton Town Hall and the Williamsville, Eggertsville Snyder, Audubon and Clearfield libraries.
