GARDEN PREPARATIONS — Although the spring weather may have been delayed this year, there is plenty of time to prepare your home’s gardens for the summer.

Whether you are a novice or an expert, you may want to consider entering the Amherst Garden Walk. This year’s walk will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 7, at locations across the town.

For more information or to download an application, visit www.amherst.ny.us. Applications must be submitted by Sunday, June 17. The forms may be emailed to Darrylmoden@yahoo.com or mailed to 111 Campus Drive West, Snyder, NY 14226.

DRAW YOUR DAD — The deadline to receive entries in The Bee’s annual “Draw Your Dad” contest is Friday, May 25. Children up to age 14 are eligible to draw their dad for a chance to win prize packages that include passes to Darien Lake, Adventure Landing, Dipson/Flix Stadium 10 and a Buffalo Bisons game.

All Father’s Day drawings will be published in a special Bee section on June 13 and 14. Entries can be mailed to The Bee or submitted as an “actual size” photo on your smartphone to fathersdayphoto@beenews.com.

UPCOMING MEETING — Amherst Republican Women will hold its next meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, at Rizotto Ristorante, 930 Maple Road. The evening begins with networking, followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m.

The program will be “What’s Happening on Our College Campuses?” Student leader Lynn Sementilli, a founder of the University at Buffalo’s Young Americans for Freedom chapter, will be the program’s guest speaker. Additional students and faculty may also participate.
