Cleaning crew accused of stealing medication
Two cleaning women, one from Amherst and the other from Kenmore, have been arrested for allegedly stealing a client’s medication.
An investigation led by an Erie County sheriff’s deputy, Richard Lundberg, resulted in the arrests of Jaclyn Martin, 37, of Amherst, and Miranda Schmidt, 23, of Kenmore, according to Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard.
The complaint came from the victim’s son after they discovered that quantities of the mother’s medication were missing, according to a press release.
The son allegedly captured the subjects stealing the medication on a home camera system and called the Sheriff’s Office.
Martin was charged with a felony count of tampering with physical evidence and two separate misdemeanor counts of conspiracy and petit larceny, the release said.
She was arraigned in Elma Town Court and remanded to the Erie County Holding Center.
Schmidt was charged with petit larceny and conspiracy, according to the release.
She was remanded to the Holding Center and was later released on bail.
