What's Going On

Williamsville to hold Halloween parade

Williamsville’s annual Halloween parade, to be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, will start behind the Williamsville Fire Hall, 5565 Main St., and proceed to Island Park. There will be a costume contest immediately following the parade at Island Park. Doughnuts and cider are sponsored by the village Youth and Recreation Committee, and entertainment will be by The Checkers Show.

BNHV to host trick-or-treating

Children ages 3 to 12 are invited to participate in the Halloween trick or treat from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, at the Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village. 3755 Tonawanda Creek Road, Amherst. The cost is $8 for children 12 and younger, $5 for adults and free for adult museum members. Reservations are highly recommended; call 689-1440 or visit www.bnhv.org.

Church to host harvest dinner

Christ United Methodist will be hosting their Harvest Dinner from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21 at 350 Saratoga Rd. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children $5. For more information or to purchased tickets, call 632-1534.

Amherst Garden Club schedules meeting

The Amherst Garden Club will meet at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, at St. John Lutheran Church, 6540 Main St., Williamsville. A presentation titled “Pollinators, Native Plants and Gardens” will be given by Geri Hens, professional beekeeper and owner of Hens Honey Bee Farm, a former 10-year vice president of WNY Honey Producers, and bee and pollinator inspect specialist for Upstate New York.

Polish Arts Club to sponsor lecture

The Polish Arts Club of Buffalo will hold “Genealogy: Tracing Your Polish Roots,” a lecture presented by David Newman at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, at the Harlem Road Community Center, 4255 Harlem Road, Amherst. Call 297-1599 for more information.

Weinberg Campus sets health seminar

Weinberg Campus, located at 2700 N. Forest Road, Getzville, invites seniors 65 and older and their families or caregivers to a free seminar about aging safely at home and learning when it’s time to seek additional support for health care needs. VFW Post 416 to host fall dance

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 416 will host a fall dance from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at 18 Spring St., Williamsville. There is a $5 entrance and a cash bar available. Music for the evening will be provided by Moon Indigo.

Theme basket, gift certificate auction set

St. Stephens Bethlehem Church will host a theme basket and gift certificate auction and dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at 750 Wehrle Drive, Amherst. The cost for raffle tickets is one sheet of 25 tickets for $5 or three sheets for $10. The cost for dinner is $5 for children ages 3 to 12, $8 for adults and free to children younger than 3.
