Clerk organizes tax preparation assistance

Erie County Clerk Chris Jacobs will host free tax preparation assistance from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, at Erie County Auto Bureau-Northtown’s office, 3095 Sheridan Drive, Amherst. The program aims to help families and individuals filing tax returns who are claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit and other tax credits. For more information, call 1-888-696-9211.

‘Suiting Up’ exhibit set at Heritage Village

A “Suiting Up: American Uniforms” exhibit will open from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, at Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village, 3755 Tonawanda Creek Road, Amherst. The exhibit will provide the history of uniforms from 1898 to the present. There is no charge for admission, and refreshments will be available. To make reservations, call 689-1440.

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church to hold concert

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, at 4007 Main St., Williamsville, will present a free concert by the Cathedral Brass at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 2. The concert will be followed by a reception.

Church schedules annual spaghetti dinner

A spaghetti dinner will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 8, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 4007 Main St., near Eggert Road, Amherst. The cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children. Proceeds will be used to benefit youth ministries.

That 1 Guy to preform at The Forvm

Nickel City Productions and For The Music Productions will present That 1 Guy at 7 p.m. Monday, March 3, at The Forvm, 4224 Maple Road, Amherst. Tickets cost $14 presale and $17 at the door. Attendees younger than 18 should be accompanied by a guardian. For more information, call 831-3271.

Spartan football schedules fundraiser

A Spartan family day will be held Mondays, March 3 and 10, at Brennan’s Bowery Restaurant, 4401 Transit Road, Amherst. The restaurant will donate a portion of its total food sales, lunch and dinner, to the Will-North Gridiron Football Club, in an effort to support the football program.

Service Guild slates next meeting

The Beechwood Service Guild will meet at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, at Beechwood Homes, 2235 Millersport Highway, Getzville. Tenor Geno Mc- Manus will provide the entertainment.

Daeman College to host ‘Culture Now’ series

Book signing to be held at the Blue Lady

Local author Janet A. Pfaff, who wrote “Unfinished Rhapsody — The Other Side of Fame” — A Mother’s Story About the Loss of Her Famous Daughter Kristen Pfaff,” will be present at a book signing from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 8, at the Blue Lady, located in Swormville Station, 9912 Transit Road, Amherst.

Heritage Village plans volunteer open house

A volunteer open house will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 8, at Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village, 3755 Tonawanda Creek Road, Amherst. Attendees can learn about the opportunities and benefits of volunteering and internships at BNHV. Free admission and tours of the Shaw exhibit building and collections storage building will be available. Refreshments will be provided.

Lutheran Church to present dinner theater

Trinity Old Lutheran Church will host a dinner theater on Saturday, March 8, at the church, 3445 Sheridan Drive, Amherst. A catered buffet dinner by Chef Leigh will be offered at 6 p.m., to be preceded by a punch reception at 5:30 p.m. The cost is $15, and the deadline for reservations is March 2. World Day of Prayer service to be held

St. Leo the Great Church, 885 Sweet Home Road, Amherst, will host a World Day of Prayer service at 1 p.m. Friday, March 7. All are invited to attend.

Ideal Weight plans weight-loss classes

Ideal Weight will hold weight-loss classes at 6:15 p.m. Thursdays at St. Gregory the Great Church, 200 St. Gregory Court, Williamsville. Amherst Police Auxiliary seeks applicants

The town is looking for individuals to join the Amherst Police Auxiliary. Applicants need to be Amherst or Williamsville residents between the ages of 21 and 62, in good health and without a criminal record.
