Sweet Home Central schedules upcoming meetings

The Sweet Home School Board will hold a budget study session at 8 a.m. Saturday, March 1, in the Vergils Community Center at Sweet Home High School, 1901 Sweet Home Road, Amherst.

The district in February unveiled a proposal to close Heritage Heights Elementary School as a way to save the district money in the development of future budgets.

Superintendent Anthony Day said a task force was established to review many district variables for more than a year before making its recommendation. Information examined by the task force included current enrollment as well as projected future enrollments.

For more information about the proposal, visit the district’s website, www.sweethomeschools.org. At the site, residents may submit an electronic form expressing their opinions about the proposed closure of Heritage Heights.

Other upcoming board meetings include a study session at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, and a voting meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 18.

An open community budget meeting is scheduled to be held at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, preceding the study session.

All meetings are open to the public.
