Main-Transit Fire Department seeks parade participants

The Main-Transit Fire Department is looking for musical, civic and fraternal groups to march in a parade at 5 p.m. Saturday, July 9, along Main Street in Amherst.

The parade is part of the Main-Transit Fire Department’s 75th anniversary Field Days. The Field Days are a recently revived tradition that includes a carnival with rides and games, food and music. It also features a Slo-Pokes Firematic Tournament, with teams from across Western New York competing. This parade will be the first one held by the Main-Transit Fire Department since 1983.

Any group wishing to participate should have a group’s representative call 632-9710, ext. 123, by Friday, July 8. The parade will be judged by the Western New York Association of Parade Judges, and some cash prizes are available.

The Field Days will be held Thursday, July 7, through Saturday, July 9, on the grounds of the Main-Transit Fire Hall at 6777 Main St. near Transit Road.
