New village trustees, mayor elected

by KATE MOCKLER Reporter

Kulpa Kulpa Village residents voted two new trustees and a new mayor into office on June 21 and re-elected the village judge.

In an uncontested race, Brian Kulpa will be the village’s new mayor. Amy Alexander and Dan DeLano will fill the trustee positions vacated by Kulpa and Jeffrey Kingsley. Jeffrey Voelkl was re-elected as judge. There were 232 votes cast overall.

The new trustees, mayor and judge will take the oath of office during the reorganizational meeting on July 5.

Kulpa said one of his primary goals as mayor is to work to control traffic on Main Street and create a safer, more pedestrian friendly environment. He projects that because it is a state road, it will take most of his term to make strides in this area, but he has already held a meeting on it.

Kulpa feels the new position will give him more leverage in this and other areas.

“I don’t know that it’s any personal gain. It’s a different standing with [state Department of Transportation] officials and various government entities,” he said.

“I think of that position as a facilitator. I’m looking forward to working with the trustees.” email: kmockler@beenews.com
