Krista Schultz, owner of Initially Yours, 4553 Main St., in Snyder, had just that quote in mind when she opened the doors to her store on Jan. 19 of this year.

Initially Yours, a gift shop that carries items varying from Sabres merchandise to Webkinz, specializes in keeping its customers satisfied, even if what he or she is looking for cannot be found within the walls of the shop.

"If a customer sees something while on vacation and comes in to the store, we locate it, ship it and can deliver it to their house," said Schultz, who noted, "We address every customer whether they're looking for a $1 item or a million dollar one."

The shop is supplied by various artists and high-end vendors, according to Schultz

Schultz said a high percentage of her clientele tends to be men or adults looking for gifts for children.

"It's hard knowing what to buy a child unless you're a parent," she said.

She also caters to bridal parties and those seeking personalized favors or gifts.

"Brides will bring me their colors, and I'll come up with ideas and price points and we'll go from there," she said.

Schultz began her career right out of high school, working for a local Jenss decor shop, arranging displays and eventually becoming a buyer.

In her current endeavor, she has used connections fostered in previous jobs to find items that may not be associated with a gift shop, including a custom Bills jersey for a young customer and a vintage Waterford vase like one destroyed in the October storm.

Working with Jenss, she said, was the basis of wanting to bring back an emphasis on customer service.

"We try to honor their requests as best we can," Schultz said of her customers. "Their thoughtfulness and their ideas brought them into the shop to begin with."

Initially Yours has experienced a good response from the public in the short time the shop has been open, according to Schultz.

"I think (the customers) like the selection and knowledge of the products," she said.

Schultz, who is also an accountant, balances the two businesses and uses her financial experience to enhance Initially Yours.

As far as expanding on the Snyder shop, Schultz is adamant about keeping the small-business atmosphere in order to better serve each individual customer and keep such touches as a fully stocked snack bar and photos of items obtained and work done to suit customers' needs.

Initially Yours is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday and Saturday; 10 a.m to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday; noon to 3 p.m. Sunday; and closed on Tuesday. For more information, call the shop at 630-7003.
