Old Home Days to continue through Friday

Williamsville-Amherst Old Home Days continues through Friday of this week with events based in Island Park at the rear of the Village Hall, 5565 Main St.

A bracelet for unlimited midway rides will be offered today, Thursday and Friday from noon to 4 p.m. at a price of $12 per person.

Today is Youth Day. In addition to rides, there will be tent games from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Joseph's Catering country spare ribs dinner, sponsored by Williamsville South Boosters Club, will take place from 4 to 7 p.m.

From 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday is Joseph's Catering's "Chicken Barbecue Night," sponsored by the Amherst Youth Foundation. The Northeast YMCA 5K Fun Run and 1 Mile Fun Walk take place at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $12 in advance or $15 at the race. Call 839-2543 for more information.

From 4 to 9 p.m. Friday, the dinner is Joseph's Catering's fish fry, sponsored by the Williamsville East High School Service Club.

Continuous shuttle service will be offered at no charge from two locations: Christian Central Academy, at the corner of Academy and School streets, every half hour from 11:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., and the Caldwell Building, 5820 Main St., every half hour from 6 to 11:30 p.m. Patrons will be dropped off and picked up at Amherst Town Hall, adjacent to Island Park, on the quarter hours.

A fishing derby will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 15. Prizes will be awarded for the largest fish. Those interested can sign up at Ed Young's Hardware, Village Hall, The Amherst Bee or at the event. There will be demonstrations on fly fishing and assistance by Niagara Musky Association members.
