.The Williamsville school budget increases 4.69 percent; taxes increase over 6 percent, and not one person on the board even blinks. One board member said we have to maintain what we have here, but they've add a girls' varsity golf coach, among other things. Why does it always seem that the board needs to sharpen their pencils? If people in corporate America took their approach, it would be quickly dismissed.

.I was sorry to hear that anyone would be opposed to the vision of the Williamsville Board, especially to clean up Spring Street. When you go down Spring Street, it's dirty and the sidewalks are impassable. At least they are thinking about something!

.The new supervisor's technique of micro-managing everything and running town board meetings until 3 a.m. has effectively disenfranchised residents from participating in matters of extreme importance to their individual neighborhoods. I would suggest the town board consider meeting two or three times a week and having specific neighborhood items scheduled for those particular nights, so that people could be home at a reasonable hour.

.Well, the chickens are now coming home to roost. First, town employees getting paid to stay home; million-dollar waste of town taxpayer money on the waste water treatment plant program; hundred-thousand dollar police golden parachutes; bills from September 2005 not being paid. Is there more to come? We'll be waiting to see.

.We were so happy to see the Town of Amherst street crew trim our trees in the Pin Oak/Old Farm area! The crew from truck 5062 and truck 148 did a fabulous job; I cannot believe the amount of work that is put into this effort to make our street so beautiful. We were also happy to see street sweeper 137 come down and start sweeping our street to make it clean for spring, but it looks like a rookie did the job! Hoping Mr. Anderson can correct this problem. Thank you, again, tree c re w !

.If the town is buying a church on Bailey Avenue for a youth center so the school district can have special programs, why isn't the school district paying for it? We certainly pay enough taxes in this district to cover it. But if the purpose is to have another community center, why don't they put one in another section of town? Remember, if you put one in my neighborhood, another one will want one in theirs. Where will it end?

.When Satish Mohan finishes his term as town supervisor, I would love to see him gather a group of like-minded people and run for the school board. I think they could use as much work as the town needs!

.Kudos to all the referees who volunteered their officiating time for boys' lacrosse this past Saturday at Amherst Central High School as well as Tuesday evening for several hours. It was fantastic to see them out there helping the boys improve their lacrosse skills and improve the game in Western New York. Thank you for your time and efforts to all the referees in Section VI.

.Perhaps one of the reasons the meetings run just a tad longer is that Dr. Mohan and the rest of the crew take enough time to speak slowly enough, so we can actually understand what they are saying. Thank you, Dr. Mohan.

.I'm concerned about the rat problem, but even more so I'm concerned about the fact that people do not use covered containers. I don't have the kind of heavy, huge, covered containers that they apparently adopted for Buffalo, but I have two very sturdy garbage cans with covers. I keep the covers on and always use them that way. If people would put covers on, I think this would help a lot.

.I'd like to know if there is a possibility of getting a radio sports show in this town. The one that is down at the end of the AM dial serves no purpose for the community.

.Can you please tell me why there are three drugstores on Kensington and Harlem within walking distance of each other? On Maple and North Forest, there is nothing and it would be an excellent place for a drugstore. Why do they keep building drugstores on Kensington and leave North Forest and Maple bare?
