NOTICE OF THE PUBLIC

BUDGET HEARING, ANNUAL

DISTRICT VOTE AND ELECTION OF THREE (3) BOARD MEMBERS

FOR THE AMHERST CENTRAL

SCHOOL DISTRICT OF

AMHERST, NEW YORK

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a Public Budget Hearing will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at 7:00 PM (prevailing time) in the District Office Board Room, Amherst Middle School, 55 Kings Highway, in Amherst, New York, to hear all persons interested in the budget of the Amherst Central School District, Erie County, New York (the “District”) for the 2018-2019 school year.

TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the Annual District Vote and Election shall consist of voting (by qualified residents of the District) on the District’s Budget, the election of three (3) members to the Board of Education (the “Board”) and any other propositions authorized to be voted upon by law and the rules of the Board, and will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, in the Amherst Central High School South Gymnasium, 4301 Main Street, in Amherst, New York, at which time the polls will be open between the hours of 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM (prevailing time), for the purpose of voting by ballot on the ES&S inteElect DS200 Digital Image Scanner voting machines, which is a paper-based tabulation system mandated by New York State Election Law.

TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the following Propositions shall be submitted to the qualified voters at the Annual District Vote and Election: PROPOSITION I The District Budget for the 2018-2019 school year.

TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that all candidates for the office of Member of the Board shall be nominated by petition. Each petition shall be directed to the District Clerk, shall be signed by at least twenty-five (25) qualified voters of the District, shall state the residence of each signer and shall state the name and residence of the candidate. Forms that may be used for petitions and an explanation of the requirements of such petitions can be obtained from the District Clerk beginning March 19 and ending April 16, 2018, except on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Petitions must be filed in the office of the District Clerk no later than 5:00 PM (prevailing time) on April 16, 2018.

TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that three (3) at-large vacancies will be filled on the Board. The three (3) candidates receiving the largest number of votes shall each be elected to a term to commence July 1, 2018 and expiring June 30, 2021.

TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that copies of the budget for the 2018-2019 school year will be available to any taxpayer of the District on or after April 23, up through and on the date of the election, at any schoolhouse in the District between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM (prevailing time), except on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that applications for absentee ballots may be obtained at the office of the District Clerk between the hours of 8:00 AM prevailing time and 4:00 PM (prevailing time) except Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Completed applications must be received by the District Clerk at least seven days before the election if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or on the day before the election if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter. A list of all persons to whom absentee ballots shall have been issued will be available in the office of the District Clerk, where it shall be open for inspection by any qualified voter of the District between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM (prevailing time), until the day set for voting, except Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, and also at the polling place on the day of the election.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the BUDGET HEARING MEETING for the residents of the Williamsville Central School District will be held at the District Office Boardroom, 105 Casey Road, E. Amherst, NY, 14051, on Thursday, May 3, 2018, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Eastern Daylight Savings Time, at which time the proposed budget for the school year 2018-2019 will be presented, as well as such matters as may properly come before the meeting.

FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the voting by the qualified residents of the Williamsville School District upon the School Budget, other propositions and the election of THREE (3) board members, the highest three vote recipients, each for a term of three (3) years beginning July 1, 2018 and concluding June 30, 2021, will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, in the North High School gymnasium, 1595 Hopkins Road, Williamsville, New York, in said School District, at which time the polls will be open between the hours of 7:00 o’clock AM and 9:00 o’clock PM, Eastern Daylight Savings Time, for the purpose of voting by ballot on voting machines.

NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that a copy of the statement of the amount of money which will be required for the ensuing year for school purposes, exclusive of public monies, may be obtained by any interested person in any of the school houses in which school is maintained in the district, during the fourteen (14) days immediately preceding the District Vote, ex- cept Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays, between the hours of 9:00 o’clock AM and 3:00 o’clock PM and in the three public libraries in the district, during their hours of operation.

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that the following Propositions shall be submitted to the qualified voters at the Annual District Meeting and Election in the following form: PROPOSITION NO. 1 - BUDGET

That the budget for the year 2018-2019 presented by the Board of Education be approved?

Election of three (3) board members, the highest three vote recipients, each for a term of three (3) years beginning July 1, 2018, and concluding June 30, 2021.

NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that the applications for absentee ballots for election of members of the board of education and voting upon the budget may be obtained at the District Office, 105 Casey Road, E. Amherst, New York, beginning April 25, 2018, during regular business hours, Monday- Friday. Completed applications must be returned to the office of the District Clerk not later than 5:00 PM on May 9, 2018 for an absentee ballot to be mailed to the voter, or one day before the annual election if the ballot is to be personally delivered. A list of all persons to whom absentee ballots have been issued will be available in the office of the District Clerk, and said list will also be posted at the polling place on the date of the annual election.

PROGRAMMING

The Erie County Youth Bureau (ECYB) is pleased to release its 2019 Request for Proposals (RFP) for Youth Development Programs on May 1st, 2018. Applications from eligible not-for-profit 501 (c)(3) organizations & local youth bureaus will be accepted until May 29th at 5:00PM. Eligible programs will promote positive youth development to address long-term juvenile delinquency prevention within Erie County.

An informational meeting will be held on May 15th at 10:30AM at True Bethel Baptist Church (907 E. Ferry St, Buffalo, NY 14211).
